Director Sarah Mack
Hi! My name is Sarah Mack (or 맥사라 in Korean), and I am the director of SPARKS 2025 and beyond! After spending more than a decade doing research both in and about Korea, I am thrilled to be sharing the country I call home with the next generation of Korea scholars and enthusiasts. After personally experiencing more than eleven different study abroad programs in Korea and elsewhere as both a student and an administrator, I designed SPARKS to help young students experience the best of what Seoul has to offer. Helping young people have great experiences in Korea is my favorite thing in the world, so I can't wait to get started!

Sarah's Story
Originally from Bowling Green, VA (pop. 1,007), Sarah Mack’s life was forever changed when she become an international student in Korea. At 15, she became an exchange student at Jeonju Kijun Girls’ High School. She also did an exchange at Yonsei University while pursuing her bachelor’s from Georgetown University and secured an MA from Seoul National University.
While studying at various Korean educational institutions on both short- and long-term programs, Sarah started SarahsSeoulSearch, a YouTube channel and blog dedicated to helping international students in Korea, which has amassed more than 27,500 subscribers from nearly every country in the world. After more than a decade of honing her expertise, she partnered with Skudy to help others in their academic ventures.
Sarah has studied abroad in Jeonju, Seoul, Taipei, Beijing, and Harbin, and these experiences helped her discover and develop her passion for international education. She has worked as an education consultant, a Resident Director for the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Program in Seoul, and a Resident Life Manager for 120 international students in Seoul at Minerva University. At Skudy, she relishes opportunities to personally connect with students and introduce them to lesser-known opportunities.
Sarah is able to assist students in English, Korean, and Mandarin, and has direct experience with exchange programs administered by the following institutions and organizations as either a participant or an administrator:
