Applications for SPARKS 2025 are now open! The application portal link is at the bottom of this page, but please read the following instructions first.

 

We encourage you to apply early to secure your spot in this transformative journey; only 24 students will be accepted into the SPARKS 2025 cohort. If you have any questions about applying to SPARKS 2025, please contact us.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

Note: Admissions decisions for SPARKS 2025 will be made on a rolling basis. If all available spots are filled before April 1, 2025, we reserve the right to close applications early. Due to the extremely high level of interest in SPARKS 2025 after the success of our 2024 program, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

SPARKS 2025 - 7 of 24 SPOTS TAKEN [UPDATED JAN 26]

We welcomed twelve amazing students to the SPARKS 2024 inaugural class last year. In 2025, we are doubling the amount of students who will be selected to participate for a total of 24 slots. However, because we are accepting applications on a rolling basis, applicants should submit their application early to maximize their chances. If all 24 spots are filled before our regular application date of April 1, 2025, we will close applications early.

Application Instructions

STEP ONE - CONFIRM YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR SPARKS 2025

​

At the start of the program, students should:

  • Be at least 14 years old and at most 18 years old.

  • Have completed 9, 10, 11, or 12 (or its equivalent) or have graduated from high school within the past calendar year.

  • Be able to speak conversational English well enough to interact with English-speaking peers.

  • Be intellectually and emotionally resilient enough to handle the challenges of completing a rigorous program abroad alongside a diverse set of peers.

  • Be physically and mentally healthy enough to participate in the program.

  • Be able to procure a passport and, if necessary, a visa to enter Korea.

  • Agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the program.

  • Be genuinely committed to learning about Korean language and culture.

STEP TWO - TALK TO YOUR PARENT(S) OR GUARDIAN(S)

Deciding whether a rigorous summer program like Seoul SPARKS is right for you is a decision you have to make with your family. You need the permission of at least one parent or guardian to apply to the SPARKS program, so please have this conversation early!

STEP THREE - SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Complete the online application form and upload the required documents, including an unofficial high school transcript and a personal essay (250–500 words) about your aspirations for the SPARKS program. We will review your application to ensure eligibility and fit and let you know within two weeks whether you have progressed to the interview round.

STEP FOUR - SCHEDULE AND ATTEND AN INTERVIEW


Applicants who pass the document screening will be invited for an interview with our admissions team. The interview scheduling link will be sent to successful applicants via email within two weeks of application submission. Please be mindful of your upcoming schedule and any time zone differences when choosing a time for the 30-minute interview; we can only reschedule the admissions interview once.

Note: For students affected by the ongoing wildfires in California, we are willing and able to accommodate schedule changes as needed.

STEP FIVE - CONFIRM YOUR SPOT

 

Applicants who successfully pass the interview will receive their admissions decision within seven calendar days of the interview. To secure a place in SPARKS 2025, the applicant and at least one parent or guardian must email us with a confirmation of their intent to participate, review and sign the SPARKS 2025 Participation Agreement, and submit a 10% deposit of the total tuition and fees within two weeks of the admissions decision being sent.
